What is Educational Talent Search (ETS)?

Free College & Career Support with UMBC Academic Coordinators!

The UMBC Educational Talent Search (ETS) Program is a federally funded TRIO program dedicated to helping Baltimore County middle and high school students prepare for college, careers, and lifelong success.

We understand that planning for the future can feel overwhelming for students and families. That’s why ETS provides free support, guidance, and opportunities to help students achieve their goals—whether that means attending college, exploring careers, or building confidence for life after high school.

What We Offer — At No Cost to Families

ETS students receive access to:

  • College and career exploration
  • Academic advising and goal setting
  • College campus tours and cultural trips
  • Financial aid and scholarship guidance
  • SAT/ACT and college preparation support
  • Workshops on leadership, success skills, and personal growth
  • Fun enrichment activities and special events

Our program works closely with participating Baltimore County schools, and each school has a Professional School Counselor who serves as a connection to the ETS team.

Why Join ETS?

Our mission is simple:
To help students graduate from high school, enroll in college or career training programs, and succeed in their future pathways.

We believe every student deserves access to encouragement, opportunities, and the tools needed to thrive.

Who Can Participate?

ETS serves eligible middle and high school students attending targeted (and other) schools in the Baltimore County Public School System.
